Building a new POS sales platform

Generali Deutschland Holding AG is the management holding company for the second largest primary insurance Group in Germany. It manages the Group and ensures that expertise is pooled and that economies of scale is exploited, for example, when it comes to IT and asset management, value and risk-based management, and the implementation of major projects.


Generali Deutschland Holding (formerly ABM Generali) decided to build a brand new POS sales platform for all its sales channels (brokers, outside sales employees). The architecture chosen was to be an always-online systems without hybrid functions.


adesso came to the project with the required expertise and experience that it had gained by carrying out similar projects involving sales portals. The adesso consultants supported the requirements management process, object-oriented technical design as well as the creation of the specialist architecture, drawing on their technical expertise and industry experience. adesso also collaborated in the process of establishing the new authorisation system, which can be a sensitive issue in the POS environment. Generali Deutschland Holding gradually rolled out the solution within the Group starting in mid-2008 with the support of adesso.
